For those of us who had been monitoring MPD Citywide during the past year's
often violent protests, we have been hearing many emergency button
activations.
The problem is that often they are accidental, often occur during
confrontations with protesters with backup officers right there.
Also troubling is that these officers are probably on SOD (SD1-EVT)
talkgroup but once they hit the emergency button it reverts to Citywide
where they are always guaranteed to have a dispatcher listening. The
problem is that only leads to more confusion and takes them off SOD.
The IG seems to come to the conclusion that when an officer hits the
emergency button it is a valid activation and no other officers are with
that officer which is hard to believe for the Capitol.
Why didn't Congress use any radio audio from USCPD radio conversations
during the Trump impeachment? It was all from MPD radios which made me
suspect somebody was hiding something. But what?
