[Scan-DC] CB Radio/ Vintage gear nets

This is kind of off topic. In 1973 I think, my stepfather got a CB license so I could
have something to do while he was occupied as an MIO. KGP-1237 was the Callsign. I had
a 4 channel CB with a homebrewed power supply that came from an Elmer, K6OIK in Atascadero
CA. The radio was a tube set. I think it was a GE. I made a lot of friends shooting the
breeze late at night with the locals. The memories will always remain. Some of the radios
being used at that time were the Browning Golden Eagles. Tram. Johnson Messengers.
Realistic Navaho's, Curriors and many others.
I have been thinking of getting together with people in the area that would like to have
a net using vintage gear. I am putting together a ground plane made from a GAP Voyager that
had a horrific death crashing to the ground as a deer chewed off one of the guy wires. I am
thinking of getting an old DAK xcvr to use. If anyone has one for sale please let me know. If
not that maybe an old Tram or anything old.
Would anyone be interested in participating n a vintage CB net.

I found it not all that useful due to lack of CB on the road and also most public service scanner information being increasingly encrypted. It’s still in my truck but doesn’t get much use. Also have a two meter APRS transceiver in the truck that doesn’t get a lot of use either, although I do normally transmit APRS location info, nobody seems to care or reply.

I like the idea of having a scan DC net on CB and would join in if possible. I am in Harford County and likely could not copy. Hope someone in the group gives this a try.
