[Scan-DC] Motorola Type 2 Questions

A couple of things here - the Montgomery County system is NOT a Type 2 - 
it is, rather, a Project 25 Phase 2 system as shown in the 
RadioReference database. In addition, it's simulcast-which means your 
996P2 is going to have issues.  You MIGHT get by with a short antenna, 
turning on attenuation or a Yagi pointed at a specific site, but this is 
very geo-centric in whether you're going to be able to make this work. 
In addition the programming for the 996P2 and SDS100 is somewhat 
different, though related.

I would suggest using ProScan (http://www.proscan.org/) instead of 
FreeScan, which has been basically abandoned. The advantage here is that 
ProScan supports both scanners where FreeScan doesn't. Sentinel 
(Uniden's free program) can also be used for the SDS100
