[Scan-DC] Split the P's

I'm guessing between P56A, which covers the Capitol, White House and the Mall and P56B, which covers the VP's residence at the Naval Observatory.

Someday I'll tell the story of the time I received permission (at least I thought I did) to fly in the WTOP traffic plane over the Mall during the 1979 Tractorcade protest.

What does it mean when the helo pilots "split the P's"?
