To repair in my spare time. I get a lot of satisfaction doing this and it's
in my blood having worked for Heathkit for 10 years.
A couple caveats, I have no car so cannot travel to pick up a radio(s). If
it was a radio you got at a yard for 5 dollars and it's a simple fix, I
will do this and tell you if you want it returned at no charge, but will
not pay for postage.
I DO NOT repair "vintage" crystal radios or tube rigs. If it's a "no
display" or pixel issue LCD I can fix, the same thing, will let you know
and you can pick it back up at no charge.
Loose or broken antenna connections I will charge 10.00 for taking it apart
if the thought of doing this is not your cup of tea. And the time and
effort (and solder work).
Abused or smoke damaged radios I will not return even if I get them working
as they never stay that way for very long.
I am not looking to start a business and will not work on your out of
warranty Uniden 500.00 P2 radios as I do not want to be liable to legal
issues, I cannot afford health care let alone a lawyer.
I just like trying to fix problems on older radios. Many times these are
bad solder joints, loose cables or broken connections that require you to
take apart something without a take apart manual. Lots of time these cannot
be sold on Ebay or CL "for parts" as nobody wants them.
If nothing else you will get an honest opinion on whether it's worth
fixing. Send me a detailed description of the problem and or a picture of
display issues and I will give you an idea of what it might cost if parts
are still available and that info is also free.
Thanks for reading!
