While not the DC area, I thought you would find this of interest. It's an excellent website about the Butler County, Ohio police, fire, EMS etc county wide radio system. Butler County borders us to the west and is a suburb of Cincinnati. Butler County's population is about a half million people.

Their really informative website covers every aspect of their radio system and provides loads of information to their users as well as the community and even information for scanning. Pretty cool transparency in a world where many are doing the opposite.
