The City of Hyattsville Police Department has immediate openings for a *POLICE
DISPATCHER/PUBLIC SAFETY AIDE 1.   *


*Typical duties include: *

   - Answering emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
   - Operating police radio.
   - Operating computer systems such as:
      - CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch)
      - Law Enforcement networked computers (NCIC/ MILES)

*Desired qualifications: *

   - Experienced dispatchers are encouraged to apply and their salary is
   determined commensurate with relevant experience level.
   - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
   - Must have the ability to remain calm and poised under stressful
   situations, even when faced with distraught or even abusive callers.
   - Individuals fluent in Spanish are encouraged to apply and may qualify
   for specialized language pay.
   - Demonstrated service oriented experience.

   - Starting annual pay $38,168 - $41,704 annual
   - Salary for experienced dispatchers commensurate with level of relevant
   experience.


* PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT*

Work is primarily sedentary and requires rotating shift work including
nights, weekends, and holidays.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*

High school graduate or GED completion.
