That won't work on the one I have. I got mine about three years ago, so mine is a (checking)

5th generation, maybe? I have it with me. Maybe the latest update of the Fire OS will let me do that, but I haven't been able to access Google Play in the past.

According to System Updates and the User Guide on my KF I'm running Fire OS 5.3.6.4 (626533320), and that that update autoinstalled on January 9 of this year. I'm reading the system info directly from my KF, but Wikipedia says I should be running 5.6.3.0. The info from my KF must be a typo, because if I click on link to earlier software updates, I see that the system before this one was 5.6.2.0. So, I'm going to trust Wiki on that one and assume that the number on the KF display has a pair of digits swapped.

I know I don't have the newest one. My KF is one of the KFs that were being sold at Kmart and Toys-R-Us a few years ago for $39.95. They're definitely worth that.

Let's try for Google Play right now. Hmmmmm. That's odd. It might be working now. One app I've never been able to install on my KF is Little Steven's Underground Garage. Let us see....

It wants my email address. I have a different one for every device. I'll have to look it up.

I see there are a bunch of videos. I'll get to that later. I haven't wanted to get too far into unlocking this and end up bricking it.

Thanks.

 You can
put the play store and many Android apps on Kindle Fires.
They work better on the Fire HD 8s, and the 2018 model is
64-bit and works really well. Here is one video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWKTv9YZ-M8Go
to youtube and search for: play store kindle
fire Then pick a video that matches your device.
Note - There's a difference between the Fire 7 and the
 Fire HD 8.

 Good
 luck!Rick
