[Scan-DC] What is the purpose of this sensor or antenna?

I went to a whole bunch of trouble to attach one I took with a Kindle Fire last Tuesday. The post was too big. I tried to save it at Imgur. No go. I tried to save it at Flickr. No go, part the deux. I tried to save it at some other site. No go, part trois. 

Pictures on Kindle Fires now seem to be saved at something called Amazon Photo. I'm going to try again tomorrow. 

Kindle Fires would be a lot easier to work with if they didn't have a proprietary OS.

Sorry. Maybe tomorrow I'll have something for you.
