[Scan-DC] Mont. Co. Controversy on Mini-Cell Sites

I don’t live in Montgomery County and therefore have no skin in this game. I do agree that cell phone towers are unsightly and don’t belong in residential neighborhoods. They can have a negative impact on property values. However, the argument that they can cause cancer is spurious and unfounded. The American Cancer Society and many other similar organizations agree that there is an extremely low probability of getting cancer from exposure to radio waves from cell phone towers. This is total fear mongering and not supported by any scientific evidence. It diminishes the entire argument against the towers in a residential neighborhood,

In fact, using a cell phone against your ear for long periods of time exposes you to far more risk than cell phone towers. And people who live in close proximity to 50 and 100 kilovolt (or greater) transmission lines are at far more risk than they would be from cell towers.
