[Scan-DC] Whistler scanner

I don't own a Uniden, but I think what you said about learning curve is
right. These are not mass market adopted user interfaces, and for most
customers they are a set it and forget it thing. I have a Whistler TRX-1.
I would say it took me a couple of weeks to get to know the programming
software and how it all seemed to work. I'm still not an expert but I feel
I know my way around it well enough now that I can do whatever I want to
do. It then took several more weeks to really get comfortable programming
the radio via the front panel. So, in all, after a couple of months I
guess I'm at least proficient at programming the TRX-1. What I hope to do
next is to learn more about how the scanner interacts with its objects when
scanning so I can create very efficient configurations based on what I want
to prioritize hearing.

In the end, it will all come down to personal preference and your use
cases. For me, I liked having NXDN & DMR out of the box for the TRX-1, but
now I find that I only occasionally listen to one NXDN system that I could
probably live without. My biggest issue is simulcast systems while mobile
which is a problem that no current scanner model really handles well.
Uniden has been marketing a coming soon model that is supposed to eliminate
the simulcast issues. We'll see.
