[Scan-DC] Old gmail account

Greg,

1. I've had the same problems over the years as most of us to different
degrees. I have fought the various temptations to "create an account" on
various websites or send a confirmation email for purchase,
appointments, or whatever. I decline. For example, shoot me, but I do
not use gmail. Why? I have to create a Google account. No, I do not
want a Google account. I will not be held hostage by Google. I use
SeaMonkey which replaced Netscape email. It works fine for me. I still
use WinXP with all its' uniques but I am very good at reinstalling it
faster than Bill Gates can and it works for my needs. I used to have
Google Earth for maps work but now Google requires I install Chrome to
use Google Earth on my Win7 desktop which I refuse to do. Google
harvests enough too much of my info now and I found using "regular"
Google maps or Bing (MS) work fine for what I want.

2. As for passwords, I created a file for each website including the
appropriate info and unique number for resorting sequence if desired,
and copied the updated file to a removable flash drive. When finished I
delete the HD Excel file. Conversely I use the flash drive to copy the
info back to Excel. I also have a QRZ email account which I use to
respond but not have to provide my main email address. Horrors!. I also
do not have a smart phone! How will I survive? I have wireless phones
in my home and one hard wired 1970s vintage rotatory dial phone.. Laugh
and mock me if you will but it works fine. As for Facebook, I weakened
eight years ago and created one for family history research....Bad
idea. Instead I was deluged hundreds of individuals I did not know or
had any interest in wanting to know to be my friend.... insanity! I
visit maybe 4 times a year to delete some of the herd's new "friend
requests" arrivals. I don't delete the account as occasionally I do
receive a valid post to which I respond.

2. I've also been hacked over the years and go through email cycles of
spam, soliciting, Russian girls wanting to meet me or whatever. How do I
know the sources? I sight check the sender's country domain initials.
I don't get much junk emails anymore. Mostly now they are faked emails
with legitimate logos warning me that my account will be closed, etc.
from a private sector company I never had an account with. My email has
lost almost all value now and is "junk" status on the Dark Web.

3. Telephone hacker problem also?. I have used CPR CallBlocker from
Amazon for about 2 years and have blocked permanently 310 of 1,500
numbers max as of today. Various blocking combinations are user
selectable options. I blocked "757 917 1956" this morning which is
another hacked phone number no longer in service. If it is used again
to call me my phone will ring one time...Gone. It works.

4. Dane, don't give up. Be creative if necessary. There still are a
few diehards who will fight back when and where needed.

John.
