National Capital Region (NCR) Flyover Event
On Wednesday, April 11, the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland will
be conducting a series of three parachute jumps over the Naval Academy at
various times.
The jumps will occur at 1:20 pm local, 5:00 pm local and 6:00 pm local.
The jumps will be from a Cessna 182 aircraft.
On April 15 & 16, the British Royal Air Force will celebrate their 100th
Anniversary and partnership with the U.S. Air Force with two aviation
events in the National Capital Region.
Sunday, April 15, 2018
On Sunday, April 15, 17 vintage military style aircraft will fly in to
Dulles Airport between 7:45 am local and 8:15 am local and will remain on
display at the Udvar-Hazy Center (UHC) museum for the day. At 4:00 pm local
the aircraft will depart Dulles Airport and exit the area after conducting
a flyover of the UHC museum.
Monday, April 16, 2018
On Monday, April 16, at 10:55 am, a flyover of the U.S. Air Force Memorial,
adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery, will be conducted. The flyover
will feature 11 aircraft flying in five different formations consisting of
a mix of vintage aircraft and modern military aircraft. A majority of the
aircraft will depart from Manassas, Virginia, east towards the Potomac
River, then north along the Potomac River, over the USAF Memorial then
resume flying northwest along the Potomac River towards Leesburg, Virginia.
The British Embassy has issued a press release to alert the public to the
presence of several formations of low flying military styled aircraft and a
small increase in noise created by the participating air traffic.
This activity has been coordinated in cooperation with the Federal Aviation
Administration, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Capitol Police, U.S. Park Police,
Department of Defense, Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Transportation
Security Administration and other NCR area agencies.
