I jumped on the DMR fad when the MD380 came out. I had a friend on this group program it for me. You don’t hear much on it. I have several 436HP’s one in each vehicle and one in the house at my listening post. For $40 bucks more than the upgrade buy a DMR radio so you have more options. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Ken,

Had it since it first came out. I did do some hand setups when it first came out, because BCDx36HP Sentinel did not support it. It was typical for the scanners of today, extreme button pushing, but pretty much the same complications as trying to setup any trunked system on any of the x36 / x96 series. Once it was supported in Sentinel, setting it up is as easy as setting up any trunked system. Concerning audio (and performance), it's great and unless I recognize the unit designations when the scanner stops, I cannot discern by ear when a DMR system is being received. My audio/performance comments are mostly based on the National Harbor/MGM systems, which I hear from my home near the PG/Chas County line all the way to work in Rosslyn, VA.

Has anyone here completed the DMR upgrade to a bcd436? Any comments as to setup of dmr systems, audio quality, etc?
