      MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Coast Guard, local agencies to conduct pollution training exercise in Hartford County

      BALTIMORE – Media are invited to observe Coast Guard and local agency operations during a full-scale pollution response exercise Thursday at the Hartford County Emergency Operations Center and on the water nearby. 



      WHO: Coast Guard members from Sector Maryland-National Capital Region and other federal, state, local agency leaders and oil spill response organizations.



      WHAT: A full-scale pollution exercise with boats on the water and an incident command post with other local agency partners.



      WHEN: 9 a.m. Thursday



      WHERE: Hartford County Emergency Operations Center

      2220 Ady Road, Forest Hill, MD. 21050 



      Harve de Grace public boat ramp

      415 Saint John St., Havre de Grace, MD. 21078



      WHY: This exercise is being conducted to practice response efforts that would normally be used during an actual pollution incident and will serve as a means to test and improve the effectiveness of current response planning and preparation.



      Media planning to attend must R.S.V.P. by contacting Public Affairs Detachment Baltimore at 757-202-3429. Media is requested to arrive at the Hartford EOC no later than 8:45 a.m.



      Other agency participants include the Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of the Interior, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Emergency Management Agency, Maryland Transportation Authority, Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, Miller Environmental, Marine Spill Response Corporation and the Historical Preservation.
