[Scan-DC] Hurricane Hunters?

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. Ron, this is what I was looking for, the military Hurricane Hunters activity. Seems like they aren't very active on hf voice like the old days.

I'm still kicking myself that I couldn't tour their planes when they did the public day at DCA last year.

Sad watching the video from St Martin. I went there on vacation to watch planes a couple of years ago. Maho beach and the airport were heavily damaged by Irma. The island is within the possible path of Hurricane Jose now too. Horrible.

As far as I know the only HF used by the Hurricane Hunters are the standard HF ARINC Oceanic freqs for the area they are working in.

In the case of Irma probably would be the CAR A/CAR B blocks of freqs.

Every now and then they will check in with USAF HF-GCS stns on 8992/11175

Not a direct answer, but I **think** the main frequency for "curious"
listening is still 14.325 USB (http://w4ehw.fiu.edu/).
