I called or tried to call three last Wednesday; two in DC and one in Maryland.

615 12th St NW, Washington, DC 20005, Phone: (202) 737-9480. No answer.

732 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20001, Phone: (202) 638-5689. Not on the list. "We're not closing."

Langley Shop Ctr, 1141 University Blvd, Takoma Park, MD 20912, (301) 439-6688. No answer.

On Thursday, I was going past the Langley RS. I saw that the RS there had "closing," not "closed" sign. Because the traffic lights were out at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and University Blvd, my originally planned trip was shot anyway, so it was off to the RS. There were no scanners there. They have several sealed lead-acid batteries. They have some digital multimeters. There are lots of AV cables and connecters, 3.5mm cables, batteries for various Canons and Nikons, etc. I broke down and bought a new meter. This one:

The RSU number is 220-0087. This is the first new meter I have bought since I got a Heathkit IM-18 in the fall of 1975, though I have bought or otherwise acquired used meters and used a coupon for a free Harbor Freight Tools meter in the meantime.

I left two of the 220-0087s there. There were other less costly DMMs too, but I went for the USB interface. I got some rechargeable cells, an electric guitar cable, and so forth. I left an hour after arriving and $58 lighter. The $77 meter set me back $23.10. Not a Fluke, maybe, but price a Fluke 289 on Amazon. Here, let me help you:

I hit the two downtown DC stores on Friday evening. The 7th Street store has 20% - 30% off signs throughout the store. I think they are not closing, just trying to keep business from going somewhere else. He didn't have any scanners. I didn't get anything. I left quickly and went to the 12th Street store. He didn't have any scanners either. He said he hadn't had any in a long time. His stuff is 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, or 90% off. He had the usual mix of AV cables and adapters. I bought some cables and adapters.

That is all. I'll be hitting the Langley store Monday evening, maybe, unless the traffic signals go out again.

Good luck.
