Unmatched Experience & No Living Costs Only Steps from the Beach

Are you looking for a rare opportunity to gain experience in the fire service, while living at the beach for no cost? The Ocean City Fire Department’s (OCFD) Live-In Program is currently accepting applications for members interested in becoming part of a fast-paced emergency services environment, while living steps away from Ocean City’s beach and Boardwalk.

“This program is great for college students and young adults, specifically those students who are pursuing a higher education with experience in a busy, progressive fire/ems organization,” commented Ocean City Fire Chief Chris Larmore. “Not only are we steps away from the beach, but we are located near several universities on the Eastern Shore, offering a short commute to participants who are continuing their education, no matter what their field of study may be.”

In all, the live-in program provides space to approximately 10 members in various fire stations throughout the resort town. Living space is provided for free, in return for responding to calls at least four shifts per week, among other requirements. In addition, program participations must be active members of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company.

“The OCFD’s Live-In Program has hosted dozens of Fire and EMS volunteers who began their career in Ocean City and continued in public service fields locally, regionally and nationally,” Chief Larmore continued. “If you are looking for a great opportunity to save money, receive quality training and unmatched experience, then look no further than the Ocean City Fire Department Live-In Program.”
