I agree with Braddock Road. You have a clear view of the northbound signals at the Slaters Lane control point.

Deanwood gets you up close and personal with trains too. You can't get much closer than this:

There's not many places to eat near Deanwood. Actually, other than the 7-Eleven, that's true of Braddock Road as well.
Frequency for Braddock Road: 161.55 MHz. You don't need a scanner; a multi-band portable will do.
