German Air Force at Dulles

Two or three times a week, a massive turbo-prop German transport plane lands at Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. Washington is the command center for German military operations in the US and Canada - a major operation, considering that over 1,500 soldiers are currently active in the region. In Norfolk, the German Navy works with NATO partners on training missions. In Tampa, a German attaché is stationed at CENTCOM, the US central command for the Middle East. In Arizona, German fighter pilots train alongside US pilots. Ammunition, fatigues, equipment, airplane parts and everything else that enters the US for the German military enters through Dulles, where the German military has a private tarmac and its own staff.
