I'm on their mailing list (it's extremely exclusive). I didn't see any screaming bargains, especially in light of what the store closing prices were. Anyway, there's an Amazon Fire 7" Tablet going for $55 (https://www.radioshack.com/products/amazon-fire-7-bundle-wi-fi-black-8gb). I haven't looked into it too much, but I gather from the Wikipedia page on Fire tablets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kindle_Fire) that the Black Friday price at RS is not really as special as the large print makes it out to be. See: http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Display-Wi-Fi-GB-Special/dp/B00TSUGXKE/. RS makes the thing a "package" with a 32 GB memory card and a case for an extra $5. Otter boxes are nice, but I doubt that the "$20 case" is an Otter box.
My question are, first, what sort of apps are available for Kindle tablets? Think of scanner apps, radio station apps (AM, FM, Yellowstone National Park law enforcement, online railroad radio, etc.), astronomy and ephemeris apps -- that sort of thing. The OS is a variant of Android, but will apps acquired at Google Play install on a Kindle? How's the Wi-Fi on this thing? Works well? Doesn't work well? Owners like them/don't like them?
I'll forward the ad if anyone wants it, but you can get it just as easily online.
Thank you.
