Very cool event. I found that the park area behind the United Way building
n Old Town was better than Orinoco (less trees) Surprisingly a load of
people showed up by 12 PM. There is a pier at the Robinson Terminal and it
was packed. Some folks had tried Gravely Point and it was filled with no
place to park. My only regret was not having a better cell camera or a
camcorder with zoom. one of the formations banked right towards the west
while the rest followed the river. Would like to know at what altitude they
came down Independence Ave. It seemed once out over the river they went to
1500-2000 feet. I noticed the constant incoming Reagan traffic stopped cold
by 11:50 AM. Did anyone catch Reagan ATC working them? Callsigns or
formation group callsigns? A list of frequencies heard and traffic would be
nice to have for any other airshows such as Andrews Joint open house event
as a baseline maybe although I understand that would be handled primarily
by Andrews ATC. Damn, wish I had had a better camera!
