I think the Tampa reporter was a douchebag. Not thinking of other
possibilities...I covered this, was there. The reporeter had prior knowledge
of a crime.
Sure Journalists stand aside as news happened, but this mess was months in
the making...The paper flew him and a photog up to DC.
I give the Tampa Newpaper a big fail..on responsibility...

This left idea-log individual made a detailed professional looking
video in Tampa before he left for the event documenting exactly what he
planned to do and additionally informed a reporter at the Tampa
newspaper of his intentions who had to have also viewed the video. The
reporter did not report anything to the Secret Service at that time. I
watched the video which was posted on the Drudge Report a few days ago
before he actually did fly. A few days later he loaded the gyrocopter
on his trailer and drove 1,000+ miles to a small airport west
northwest(?) of DC I think in MD. The Tampa newspaper reporter
apparently flew up and was with him at the airport before he took off.
I am not sure but I think at that time when he was airborne on the way
the Secret Service was notified possibly by the Tampa reporter of his
intentions and details of his flight plan, etc.**

T**hat may be one of the reasons he was not shot down by the SS. In my
opinion another reason might be if he had been shot down by the SS and
the video he previously had made public then the media would make the
FBI/Secret Service look like a bunch of incompetents for not immediately
placing him under 24 hours surveillance when still in Florida. I
suspect left wing politics also may have been a factor in the Hobson's
choice of letting him land first and then arrest him vice the WH SS
sending a Stinger missile up his rear end when still in flight...just my
opinion.
