[Scan-DC] DOT has put these things all up and down every major roadway here in D allas. What do they do???

      These things are all along the Interstates on the east coast. They 
are also fed into the electronic message boards that tell you how far 
you are from an exit and expected time to get there. I believe they can 
at least track speed of any car that passes like radar would. I am not 
sure but with the picture that was posted you do not need to be carrying 
a toll pass reader. For the case about speeding through toll collection 
areas they are clearly marked to what the speed limit is so driver 
beware. This all goes along with license plate readers, red light 
cameras, speed cameras in work zones and many other signs of the time. 
My take is it is just another revenue gathering tool for local and state 
government. Of course if you are not doing anything illegal you should 
not have any concerns.
