On a different topic, read the Wired article on the DJI Phantom 2 quad
copter that crashed on the White House lawn. Seems there was a meeting
on Thursday among, DHS, USSS, and other agencies on the threat level
of remote control drones. The company that makes the DJI model has
sent out Geoblocking code to those models to accept No-fly zones
around DC and airports. They will shut down withing certain areas and
land if they meet certain GPS coordinates. Interesting article.

I do not think any current scanners go high enough to detect the 5GHz
radio signals they fly under. I had my ex buy me once a few years back
a radio controlled Helicopter from CVS for 25.00. The remote took like
9 or 10 AA batteires and it was about he size of a small dog, I lost
in not knowing the thing could fly to 400 ft. It zipped off and is
likely sitting on my old condo's rooftop for the next 5 years. There
was a movie awhile back in the 80's with Tom Selleck playing a robot
specialist cop. The bad guys had these radio controlled cars called
"Lock-Ons" that were filled with explosives and could zero your
vehicle, get underneath and explode. I guess we are not to far from
that, scary thought.
