[Scan-DC] Strange flights

They're P-3s from Paxtuxent and elsewhere. From Pax, they use the
callsign Warlock. I've also heard the callsign Deepsea-48, that's a
callsign for VQ-1.
156517 from VQ-1 has been in the area lately, not sure what it's using
for a callsign.

I think itt likely has something to do with Sierra Nevada Corp and L-3
Communications gear. New L-3 gear is going in EP-3s and SNC has
operations in Hagerstown and sort of test range around that area.

They're not always transmitting mode-s so the only way to know they're
there is to hear them with ATC or be close enough to hear the engines.
You can hear them with ZDC on 134.15. I've also heard them with TRACON
125.65 and 133.85 while transiting to/from.

I've haven't been able to find any air to ground comms.

They sound like a C-130 and fly a 20min pattern in the early hours of the morning. The word that is being made public is that they are doing "radar testing". I just fired up my R-5 which covers the MILAIR band and will begin trying to see if I can glean anything there, but I was wondering if anyone has picked up on these flights?
