My Uniden 536 works great and the audio sounds better with an external
speaker.. I use ARC536PRO to program it after initially creating a
profile and one FL.. The decoded P25 audio is very good quality and
"smoother". Plus Uniden scanners mute encrypted audio. GRE scanners do
not. Most DGIF transmissions now are encrypted as are a couple of DEM,
STARS techs and a few STARS users. Encrypted audio on GRE scanners will
drive you nuts if these talkgroups are not locked out. Additionally,
the 536 is more RF sensitive than my previous Uniden models and for sure
my PSR600. I now hear twofew additional STARS sites and the Hanover Co.
trs which previously my 996XTs or my PSR600 never detected strong enough
to process. All my scanners use the same tower mounted pre-amped
Scantennas. Last Sat. for the first time I tried GPS controlled
scanning with the 536 and it worked fine. I am creating 100 Favorites
Lists from my imported XT files. I edit and then write these selected
Favorites List files to the 536. I have about 20 Favorites Lists to
create for most of the Virginia radio systems and frequencies of
interest to me. The process is not that difficult but does require
attention to detail in programing and can be time consuming but the end
result is worth it. I bought my 536 new on line for $549 plus shipping.
