I own several of the GRE PSR500/Pro-106 type radios. I live in the
Rockville area and I cannot receive Fairfax transmissions. The RF
signal is strong, but Fairfax is a simulcast system, which means that
there are near-simultaneous transmissions from separate towers that
interfere with one another at my receiver locations. There is
actually one location (Falls Rd and Wootton Pkwy) where I can receive
Fairfax transmissions, which is evidently shielded from all but one tower.
When I drive over into Virginia, I can usually receive Fairfax just
fine, probably because signals from one tower are much stronger than
the others.
I also have a Uniden BCD436HP, and in my experience Uniden has not
solved the simulcast problem.
