[Scan-DC] Plane down Gaithersburg

I think the control sites more easily become parks (when the federal
government abandons the land to local government they can only be used for
recreation). The City of Gaithersburg has just taken possession of
different NIKE control site near Muddy Branch and Darnestowne Rd. which will
be a park. The launch sites are slower to be reused because of
contamination and artifacts. The launch site in Gaithersburg is just NE of
the Muddy Branch shopping center (with a Giant).

Regarding living near an airport, I think it would be interesting also, when
we spent weekends in St. Mary's County I was always fascinated by the
various aircraft. Same goes for trains, you can decide to enjoy them, or
spend every night angry because they don't stop coming by.

I believe the Nuke Site is now the county park nearby....I believe they
paved the silo over and put up a basketball court.

The park was even named Nike park or something like that.

Two "things":

just in passing - almost directly opposite on Snouffer School Road is a
National Guard or Army Reserve center - Army reserve, I think, sorry, have
forgotten... I only pass it twice a day! :) Anyway, back in the good old
days of Cold War, that was a Nike site - you may still be able to see the
silo doors on google maps... the control site was down the road a bit and on
the other side (ie same side as where this plane went down today), it is now
a park - "Nike Park".

second, sorry, some of my posts may have bounced, was posting in rich text
or html or something... apparently yahoo defaults to that.
