Wednesday night, at about 6:30 p.m. I was at the intersection of Martha Custis Drive and Gunston Road in Alexandria, waiting for a bus. I heard a really loud helicopter coming from the west. He was headed pretty much due east. He had a floodlight on. As he got closer, I said to myself, "he's flying sideways." Nope. It was a V-22 Osprey. The tips of the rotor blades have green lights. He passed directly overhead, and for a bonus, flew between me and the moon. I got to see a lunar eclipse by way of a silhouetted V-22.
