Prince Georges County to build 46,000 square foot facility that will host new Emergency Operations Center, 911 back-up facility, and Public Safety Investigations

UPPER MARLBORO, MD - Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., Prince Georges County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III will join Prince Georges County Council Chairman Mel Franklin (D- District 9) and Council Member Andrea Harrison (D-District 5) at the site of the Countys new Public Safety Complex at 7911 Anchor Street in Landover, MD. This 46,000 square foot building will house the Prince Georges County Office of Homeland Securitys Emergency Management Office, a new state of the art Emergency Operations Center, a 911 back up facility and the Office of Human Resource Managements Public Safety Investigations Division.

Prince Georges County faces various emergencies and disasters every year and it is imperative that we provide our emergency management team with the advanced technology and facilities they need to do their jobs, said Prince Georges County Executive Rushern L. We are committed to ensuring that people are safe and this new complex is another step forward for emergency operations in Prince Georges County.

The new Public Safety Complex is scheduled to open in the late winter or early spring of 2015 and includes razing the 44 year old schoolhouse on the Anchor Street property that was previously the primary 9-1-1 Dispatch Center for Prince Georges Countys public safety agencies.
