I got on the Metro at the Braddock Road Metro station at 7:30 a.m. this morning. A northbound CSX freight was going by on the number 1 track. Toward the back of the train there were several DODX flats carrying military vehicles. I'm guessing they were surplus, as they did not look new. Also, they were painted the color of sand, and I don't think we're ramping up to invade a country with a lot of sand, if what I read in the newspapers is any indication. The train was out there in broad daylight for all to see, so I don't think this post is going to help al Qaeda at all.
He must have had a good signal at Slater's Lane, as he was moving right along. We were pacing the train up past Four Mile Run. By that time, he was slowing down, so I suspect he was going to be held at RO for the parade of VRE and Amtrak trains to go past. He had two 4,400-hp AC traction motor units on the front, but I do not know the symbol. I think the second unit was 106, and the first might have been 3076. Don't quote me on that. The front of the train had the usual DOT-111s with molten sulphur, and there were an FBOX boxcar and another boxcar with the "Southern Gives a Green Light to Innovation" logo. Come to think of it, that one goes back a bit.
What happens when he gets to Hyattsville, I do not know. You might see him at Shenandoah Jct., or he might head to Baltimore.
Best wishes.
