It is my understanding that this multi-jurisdiction active-shooter exercise, originally planned for March, is scheduled for today. I assume it involves locations in Mont. and P.G. Cos. as noted toward the bottom.

Subject: Regional MCI drill 3/18/14
On March 18th, MCFRS will be participating in a large regional MCI drill. Exercise coordinators will be simulating combined attacks at Six Flags in PG County and at the Soccerplex in Germantown . The purpose of the exercise is to assess the ability of the region's EMS and healthcare infrastructure to respond to such an event. MCFRS will be participating with multiple units.
If your LFRD would like to contribute a staffed unit for this event, or backfill for a unit that is going on the drill - please contact BC Dee Howard via county email by COB March 11, 2014.
Personnel can prepare for this event by reviewing triage procedures (START and Tag use) at the following websites:
http://www.miemss.org/home/FormsDocuments/tabid/58/Default.aspx - good overview of MCI procedures
http://www6.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgtmpl.asp?url=/content/frs-ql/psta/stp/triage/index.asp - more focused on the tag and START
In addition the EMS Duty Officers have a "MCI in a box" drill that they can share with your shift. Contact them to make arrangements.
Thanks,
Alan Butsch

Purpose: The National Capital Region (NCR) continues to represent a prime target
for domestic and international terrorism, as well as a location that is subject to
natural disasters. The Park Plex Full Scale Exercise 2014 has been designed to test
the capabilities of the Emergency Response System (ERS) Program. The ERS
Program facilitates the process by which medical response agencies examine their
current capabilities, identify respective strengths and deficiencies, and provide
information so they can augment and improve upon their collective capabilities.
This is accomplished by simulating mass casualty incidents at both locations and
taxing the Emergency Response System .
