*1.  A friend who works at the local Mall Radio Shack called and 
informed me that the 996XT(also probably the 396XT) are model clearance 
priced at $243.00 although the RS website still shows a $499 price.  RS 
will offer the two Whistler Phase 2 capable scanner models which are 
currently out of stock at RS stores and on the website.**
