We are operating with diminished radio system capacity. After some problems with our main radio site we are now operating on the backup site. Based on historical system usage data we are not likely to exceed the limitations of the systems, even in its degraded state.
It is still, however, important for us to take measures immediately and throughout the day to ensure that we do not push the system to its limits. Further, there continue to be issues with station alerting and minitor paging. The following items are required of you in order to support operations until all systems are restored:
1. All stations must maintain a station watch
b. This requires a person with a radio, a pad of paper sitting near a telephone to record event information
c. Do not be deceived if station alerting or paging works it is intermittent and not to be trusted
2. ALL users must limit radio traffic to the extent possible
a. Use your MDC if so equipped to message back and forth with ECC
b. Use your phone to communicate from the stations
1. Understand that the ability of ECC to answer phones is also diminished
2. Each unit must provide a cell phone number to the “S” Drive document S:\shared\FEBRUARY RADIO ISSUES
3. Be prepared to transition fireground and other tactical operations to 7-Oscar should an issue occur during tactical operations
4. Units should make themselves familiar this morning with other zones present in their radios such
a. VHF
b. 800 Backup
c. 800 REGNL
5. REMAIN ALERT things might change over the course of the day and you will be notified of what to do next.
