Subject: FS32 Opening - Plans

All MCFRS Personnel

We expect that Fire Station 32 will become fully operational by the third
week in February. When it opens, it will house Paramedic Engine 732,
Ambulance 732, the Duty Operations Chief, EMS703, Battalion 703, and the
Scheduling Office.

By the time FS32 opens, CAD will recognize that station in the running order
for all box areas across the County. Until another update is issued, units
should NOT move up to response area "32". Units that are on the air in
FS32's area should move themselves to response area "27" to ensure that they
are recommended accurately.

On Friday January 24th 2014, FS32 reached "substantial completion", which is
the point when the construction company initially turns the building over to
the Department of General Services. At that point, all of the building
systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing, etc) are operational.

In the next few weeks, the station will be outfitted with station alerting,
data, phones, appliances and furniture. The personnel who are assigned to
the station will transfer to their new shifts effective February 9th 2014.
During the daytime periods of their shifts, the personnel will be detailed
to work on setting up the station and then will staff either A732 at FS31 or
other apparatus at night.

If staffing permits, it is possible that PE732 may be staffed and run out of
another station for a few nights before the FS32 opens.

Captain Tom Gartner is the Station Commander, and will lead and organize
those efforts.

The Duty Chief, Scheduler, EMS703 and BC703 will probably occupy the
facility for several days prior to the engine and ambulance. Those
personnel will test and troubleshoot the station alerting, data, and
telecomm systems. When we are confident those systems are operational, and
that all required appliances, furniture, and IT equipment are in place, we
will "control" the engine and move the ambulance. Because the staffing will
already be in place, the station is likely to open in the middle of a pay
period.

The intent is to open the station on the first day that all of the
facilities and apparatus are ready.

The phone numbers for Scheduling and the command staff will remain the same,
but there may be short outages during transition. Notifications of those
outages will be made by email to #FRS.All.

A formal station dedication ceremony is being planned for late April or
early May.

Attached is a map outlining the station 32 response area. (e-mail Alan for
