I forgot: my Triplett 630 is supposed to take an Eveready 413 30-volt battery. The last one I bought came from Arlington Electronic Wholesalers when they were across the street from Cherrydale Hardware. Yeah, been a while.
Anyway, what people do now, if they don't want to order one online, is stack up three 9-volt batteries.

So maybe I should buy a whole bunch of 9-volt batteries for my meters (and smoke detectors). The D-cells, I can turn into battery packs for lanterns. I acquired, some time ago, a lantern labeled "BPA." It's supposed to take a 12-volt lantern battery. Out in Oregon, you can find those batteries at the Wal-Mart, as those lanterns are widely used by loggers (I've been told). Around here, the zinc-carbon ones are no problem to find. Alkaline? Special order. With the Interwebz, it's no problem, but I can wire together 12 D-cells and make my own battery pack. The original cells are one-and-a-half D cells, but I just want a lantern that works.
Also, the Walgreens website says there a store just north of Gallery Place. I'll be headed there right away.

....
My RCA VoltOhmyst uses three 9-volt batteries at a time, so some of those would be nice to have.
The Alexandria store is two small to have the 8-packs of D cells. The Clarendon store is out of them. I might get a raincheck.
The usual disclaimers.
