Speaking of SWL, I noticed yesterday at Radio Shack that
the Grundig Mini 400 AM/FM/SW radio is on sale for $19.99, down 33% from its
regular price of $29.99. However, looking at the reviews of the Mini 400 on
Amazon, I'm not sure it's even worth $19.99, except perhaps as a last-ditch
emergency backup. Plus it seems the only thing you can listen to on SW any more
are the religious stations asking for money and the survivalists wanting to
sell you gold.

In Alexandria, I have no problem getting the lower channels, which are broadcast from the transmitter in Merrifield, using only rabbit ears. I haven't seen the upper channels, which are broadcast from another transmitter.
