MPD to Host Joint Counterterrorism Awareness Workshop

Media is invited to opening remarks

(Washington, DC) - The Metropolitan Police Department will host a two-day Joint Counterterrorism Awareness Workshop at the Kellogg Conference Center, Gallaudet University on December 3rd and 4th.

Members of the media are invited for opening remarks by Deputy Mayor Paul Quander and Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier. The remainder of the workshop is closed to the press.

The Joint Counterterrorism Awareness Workshop Series (JCTAWS), sponsored by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is a nationwide initiative designed to improve the ability of local jurisdictions to prepare for, protect against, and respond to complex terrorist attacks. JCTAWS, held in cities across the U.S., brings together federal, state, and local participants representing law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, communication centers, private sector communities, and non-government organizations to address this type of threat.
