I remember asking this a while back but I also remember that there was no
complete list - only some spotty information.
Does anybody have a comprehensive list of the various units in MCPD and
what they would be associated with when on the radio? For example, I'm
fairly confident that 9-Zebra units are the collision units just by
listening to radio traffic. I have a site that I used to use but the
numbers seemed to have changed. I hear a lot of 9-Nancy units as well and
have no idea what that refers to.
Another type of unit that I've always been curious about are the 3 digit
"hundred" units. It sounds like the units that have a 5 in the middle (ex:
453 in 4th district) are motor units. But I have no idea what the other
ones would be.
Would be nice to have a list or at least to fill in more of the gaps in my
knowledge.
Thanks,
Kenny Lorber
P.S. - In exchange for the info I can provide some insight into M-NCPPC
Park Police units.
Normal beat units are structured by the first digit and letter being the
beat (ex: 2D) with the last digit being the shift number.
Victor units (ex: V74) are special ops units when they are operating
normally.
Henry units are special ops units when on horseback.
"Motor" units are special ops units when on motorcycles (they will be
simply be read as "Motor xx" on the radio).
X-Ray units are the volunteers (of which I am one)
Lincoln units are "at-large" units
Some units will simply be known by a car number (ex: Car 30)
Just as with county units - off-duty units are known by their 4 digit ID
number.
