[Scan-DC] Antenna recommendations

I am using a cheap RS multiband on a magnetic base sitting inside the window for my HP-1 with satisfactory results.
I expect that with lower power on most rebanded systems, it is plenty good for reception, and a more expensive antenna is probably not going to make that much of a difference in a window configuration.

A friend is looking for a simple antenna he can stick outside the bedroom window, VHF high/UHF/800 MHz.... any suggestions?

This is for his Home Patrol 1.
