MEDIA ADVISORY

STATE POLICE TO MARK FULL-SERVICE MISSION OPERATION 
OF FIRST NEW AW-139 HELICOPTER

(FREDERICK, MD) -- Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Marcus L. Brown will join Dr. Robert Bass of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System, Delegate Jim Malone, and other state officials at the Aviation Command's Frederick Section to officially mark the commencement of full-service mission operation of the first new AgustaWestland AW 139 helicopter.  The pilots and flight paramedics who staff "Trooper 3" are the first to have been fully trained on the new aircraft.  They are now flying the new helicopter around the clock on all Aviation Command missions.  
 Also speaking at the event will be an individual who was flown by a Trooper 3 crew several years ago and credits the crew and the staff at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with saving his life.  To show his gratitude, he did something rather unusual, which he will display at the event.  He will also meet for the first time the pilot and flight paramedic who flew him to lifesaving medical care.
