Solar Impulse, a plane powered only by the Sun, has departed San Francisco and is scheduled to fly across country, stopping at several airports along the way. The stops include a 7-10 day layover at Dulles in "mid-June." The crew has received a Special Temporary Authority (WG9XIM) for the following ground-support frequencies at each of the airports it's stopping at (Phoenix, DFW, St. Louis, Dulles, and JFK):
151.52
151.67
152.90
153.005
154.49
154.54
158.415
159.495
159.81
160.17,
all analog FM, 2 W max, 12.5 kHz bandwidth. When the plane is at Dulles in mid June, it might be worth programming these freqs into your new Baofeng and taking a listen if you're out that way.
I'm not sure if there are any special freqs they plan to use in the air. The STA doesn't have any listed.
Andy
