Almost all of the helicopter flights in that area are limited to flying over the Washington Channel side of Hains Point (the side farthest from DCA). I play golf down there every week, and while I see constant helicopter traffic on the channel side, I don't recall ever seeing any on the Potomac side. So I suspect the difference here is the side of Hains Point that the helicopter was on.

Interesting "alert". What's so special about this one since a lot of helicopters in the Haynes Point area fly low while clearing the DCA area? Is it because it will be out there for almost 4 hours? Oh well and like I said, interesting alert.

A helicopter will be flying over the southwest area of Washington, D.C. near the Potomac River and Haynes Point, from 6:30 am until 10 am Sunday, April 28. This overflight is authorized and is in conjunction with the Nike Women's Half Marathon.
