1. Seeking alternative to PEPCO Smart Meter in DC

I've been reading about the radio frequency emmissions from the new PEPCO Smart Meters and I not very pleased with what I'm reading. I wrote to Pepco to ask to "opt out" and the response I got is pasted below. Maryland customers have a choice, but we don't in DC. That does not seem fair. If we leave Pepco for another company, can we get rid of the Smart Meter? If so, what company could we use? Any advice would be appreciated.

Response from PEPCO:

Thank you for contacting Pepco regarding the Smart Meter. We must advise you that the option to "opt out" of the smart meter exchange is only available to our Maryland Residential customers at this time. The decision was based on a determination by the Maryland Public Service Commission. If you require any additional information on your account, please reply with your account number or social security number for verification purposes.

If there is anything else we can assist you with please contact us again at www.pepco.com. Also, for great tips on how to lower your bill in the future by using energy conservation strategies, please visit our website at http://www.pepco.com/energy/conservation/.
