[Scan-DC] Novice Questions - Northern VA

Hello all,

 

Many years ago, I was heavily into scanning, before the advent of trunking,
digital systems, etc.   I haven't been active significantly since that time.

 

Fast forward to the present, a friend, knowing my previous history and
experience with scanning, has given me his Radio Shack Pro-96 Digital
Trunking Scanner to program for him.

 

I found out about the Radio Reference resource, but in looking at the
Fairfax County frequencies, there is nothing listed for Police or Fire,
which are his primary interests.

 

Have these services converted completely to digital systems that are no
longer capable of being monitored by a scanner, or are there frequencies
available for these services?
