[Scan-DC] New CSX chs.

I listen only in Alexandria and occasionally a little on the commute to work in
downtown DC. The SC-180B's headphone jack provides audio to both channels of a pair of
stereo headphones, so it works with all those mp3 player headphones sold everywhere. Thus
I can use it on a Metrobus or other commuter bus without disturbing my fellow passengers.
It works on Metrorail too, as long as you're above ground.
The action for me is all on 161.550 MHz. I hear humans all the time, especially
locomotive engineers as they call signals and announce their arrival at and departure
from the Alexandria Amtrak station.
You could use one of those multiband radios with weather band coverage, tune it down to
161.550 MHz, and hear everything you needed to hear on CSX near Alexandria. Fortunately,
that frequency is AAR 96 and not AAR 1, so it is within tuning range of those multiband
radios. I love those things. I wish I could still hear analog TV sound, but that's not
coming back.
Best wishes.

Thanks Blair!
I noted that voice traffic has been disappearing from the CSX channels. I
do still hear the talking boxes on 160.23, but otherwise, it's been a few
weeks, perhaps, since I remember hearing any humans. Please let me know if
you hear anything.
Regards,
Alan

I don't know. It's funny you should mention that, as I was looking for them
today. I tried Boteman, but he had old information. He posts on RR, so
anything new should be there. I also checked DPD Productions.

I was listening to trains yesterday, but I wasn't paying attention to
frequencies. In Alexandria, the only RR frequency you need is (was?) 161.55
MHz. I was using a Bearcat SC-180B, which is about fifteen years old.
