[Scan-DC] Anyone hear any weather transmissions?

I agree about the warnings issued on Friday being unusual. There also was
the statement in the discussion that went something like "if this system
makes it across the mountains we better be worried". I think what was
missing was the suggestion that the high winds would occur everywhere along
the line, since often the wind values fluctuate over time and place.

As an Orthodox Jew, I actually violated the Sabbath (of course, I got help
from my little kid) to try and get my radio back on freq, knowing storms
were possible on Saturday. As I am the head coordinator on our civilian
emergency response team, I felt it was important to be able to monitor for
any additional storms. Turns out, there was nothing to turn into.
You are right - extremely scary not having that source of info at my
fingertips. It is what alerted me to the Derecho - and if any of you had
been listening, you would have recognized that something unusual was
happening when they began with the first warnings which covered about all of
western MD and northern VA.

I know things can happen, but this can be scary... we can go to sleep with a
weather alert radio because we can depend on it to wake us in an
emergency... NOT.

Manassas (KHB36, 162.55) and DC (WNG736, 162.45) are still down. From
Arlington, I'm hearing:
162.4, KEC83*, Baltimore MD, medium strength 162.475, WXM42, Hagerstown MD,
medium strength 162.5, WXK97, Sudlersville MD, medium-to-weak
*The NWS Web site still lists KEC83 as being down.
