A CB has saved me many hours of frustration by being able to avoid long
traffic jams travelling between DC and San Antonio. Also, listening to the
truckers is usually a great way to stay awake while driving at night
(assuming there isn't an idiot or two on the air txing music or screaming
profanity at Hispanic sounding drivers).

The last few times I got stuck in a big traffic jam on the highway while I
was traveling, I tuned to channel 19 expecting to hear the truckers
discussing the cause and duration of the backup, but all I heard was
silence. Do truckers use CB radio much these days? I used to be able to
listen to all sorts of helpful traffic info.
