Prince George’s County’s Office of Homeland Security Public Safety Communications 9-1-1 Center Earns Triple Accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch  

 

Accreditation Ceremony to be held at 9-1-1 Call Center in Bowie, Tomorrow, Tuesday April 17, at 3:00 PM

 

Upper Marlboro, MD – Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III is pleased to announce that the Prince George’s County’s Office of Homeland Security Public Safety Communications 9-1-1 Center has earned Triple Accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.  

 

The Accreditation award will be presented to County Executive Baker and the Public Safety Communications Management Team on April 17, 2012 by representatives from the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch: Scott Freitag, President of the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch, Alan Fletcher, President of Priority Dispatch Corporation, and Adam Hinckley, liaison to Prince George’s County.  The ceremony will take place at the Public Safety Communications Center in Bowie, MD at 3:00 PM tomorrow.  



The Prince George’s County 9-1-1 Center is recognized as a Center of Excellence in receiving and processing sheriff, police, fire and EMS calls for service.  Prince George’s County is the 5th jurisdiction in the world to receive Triple Accreditation and the 4th in the United States to receive this prestigious recognition.  At this time, there are 5 agencies world-wide to receive the Center of Excellence Award for Emergency Police Dispatch; 20 agencies world-wide to receive the Center of Excellence Award for Emergency Fire Dispatch; and 160 agencies world-wide to receive the Center of Excellence Award for Emergency Medical Dispatch.  Prince George’s County is the 5th in the world to receive the Triple Accredited Center of Excellence award (Tri-ACE) for all three areas.

 

The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch is a non-profit organization that is closely aligned with three allied academies with related programs and standards for emergency medical, fire, and police call processing and dispatching.  It is the public safety dispatch industry’s leading certifying and standard-setting body, with over 30,000 members in 20 Countries.
